What are Stories?

The Stories tab surfaces the distinct anecdotes and stories told in a recording - each one a short, faithfully retold passage with its own title. It's great for interviews, oral histories, and long conversations where the summary alone misses the narrative detail.

Who told it & when

Each story opens with a byline: [Teller · date].

• Teller is the named speaker (or your override) - set or fix it with the who told this chip. Naming your speakers first gives accurate tellers (see Speaker names and AI guessing).
• Date is when it was told. For a normal recording that's the recording's date; for a merged multi-day interview, each story is dated to the specific part it came from.
• The title also notes when the events happened if the story says so - e.g. "Rafting Competition (1972)".

Generating & refreshing

Stories are extracted the first time you open the Stories tab on a recording. They refresh automatically when you re-evaluate a recording - for example after you fix speaker names, correct the transcript, or add context. You can also ask Claude to "regenerate the stories for that recording" (see Connect QuestLog to Claude).

Tips

• Stories work best on longer recordings with real narrative - a quick status meeting may produce few or none.
• A 2-3 hour interview can produce dozens; that's expected.
