Recording
Why a long recording splits into parts
Multi-hour audio is chunked and re-stitched - the split is invisible in the result.
Why "parts"?
Recordings longer than about 20 minutes are automatically split into ~5-minute chunks, transcribed in parallel, then stitched back together. It's how QuestLog handles multi-hour audio reliably without running out of memory.
What you'll see
- The recording may briefly show parts while chunks transcribe.
- When it's done you get one continuous transcript and summary - the split is invisible in the final result.
- Long recordings simply take a little longer (see How long transcription takes (and stuck recordings)).
Combining separate files
That's different - if you recorded something across several files and want them as one, see Merging recordings.
