Book folders: dictate a manuscript

Chapters, characters and a growing manuscript, built from your voice notes.

A 📖 Book folder accumulates voice notes into a manuscript-in-progress.

Set it up

  1. Folders → + NEW → Book, name the project.
  2. Open the folder and add your outline - chapter names. You can restructure any time.
  3. Talk: plot ideas, scenes, character notes. File the recordings into the folder (or give it keywords to auto-file).

Each recording is folded into the document: new material lands under the right chapter when it clearly belongs to one, contradictions resolve in favor of the newer take (with a note), and every passage keeps a [t…] receipt linking back to the exact moment in the recording - click it to jump there.

Sections you edit by hand are locked: QuestLog proposes changes to them instead of overwriting - you accept or dismiss each proposal.

Every outline entry has a small ⣿ handle on its left: drag it to move the entry - chapter 1 can become chapter 10 without deleting or retyping anything. Prefer clicks? Click the handle to pick the entry up, then click the row where it should go. Your written material moves with the entry automatically, and the living document re-orders itself to match. Items under Working on move the same way.
